Mitchell died on January 4, 1914, in Philadelphia and is interred at <a rel="mw:WikiLink" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/The_Woodlands_Cemetery" title="The Woodlands Cemetery" class="mw-redirect" id="mwAQA">The Woodlands Cemetery</a>. His widow died a week after his funeral.
