Lincoln handily won the electoral votes:

• Abraham Lincoln: 180 (40% of the popular vote)
• J.C. Breckinridge: 72 (18% of the popular vote)
• John Bell: 39 (13% of the popular vote)
• Stephen A. Douglas: 12 (30% of the popular vote)
