The <a rel="mw:WikiLink" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/Flag_of_Washington,_D.C." title="Flag of Washington, D.C." id="mwCpU">flag of Washington, D.C.</a>, was adopted in 1938 and is a variation on George Washington's family <a rel="mw:WikiLink" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/Coat_of_arms" title="Coat of arms" id="mwCpY">coat of arms</a>.
